Diego Simeone's side stormed to a 0-3 victory over a tough Sevilla club on the road. Goals came from Koke, Gabi, and Jackson Martinez -- his first in an Atletico shirt.

It was an electric atmosphere inside, Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, as the two teams were set to kick off what would be a very physical and exciting matchup.

Sevilla got the first chance of the game in the 2nd minute when Jon Oblak was forced to make a good save on Coke. With new striker Llorente at the top for Sevilla, the hosts looked prime to test Atletico's sturdy defense.

Atletico had a numerous amount of chances in the first half as Sevilla seemed content to give away free kicks to Madrid. But none of the set pieces led to any dangerous chances. Llorente almost grabbed his first Sevilla goal in the 31st minute when a  Tremoulinas' cross almost got to the former Juventus man.

Atletico strike first

Llorente struggled in the first half and the missed header was his best chance as he finally had good service into the box. Antoine Griezmann, whose goal was the match winner in Atletico's last game, made a great run into the box and was fouled in the box. But the ball squirted right to Koke and he toe poked it into the bottom corner and that gave Atletico the lead in this match.

Sevilla had a great chance when Ever Banega had a free kick in a dangerous area but his shot went well wide and high over the bar. Krychowiak forced a good save from Oblak again when his shot was deflected off Gimenez. That turned out to be the last chance of the half as the score remained 1-0 in the half.

Griezmann controversially not sent off

The second half started with a bit of controversey when Antoine Griezmann was not shown a second yellow for a clear dive. After getting a yellow for a challenge just a few minutes earlier, the Frenchman dived in between two Sevilla defenders in the box hoping for a call. The penalty was not given and the yellow wasn't either as Atletico Madrid caught a huge break.

Atletico started off the second half very defensive as they looked to strike Sevilla on the counter attack. Griezmann and Fernando Torres had a couple of chances on the break but they were saw out. Sevilla kept swinging crosses from the flanks and each time the crosses were seen out by Oblak and his defenders.

Sevilla started controlling the lion's share of the possession in the second half and had the majority of the chances. Their best chance game in the 65th minute when Llorente had a clear shot on goal but he sent it wide.

Gabi and Jackson Martinez finish off Sevilla

It looked destined that Sevilla were going to equalize given how deep Atletico were playing and the chances they were giving up but Gabi put that all to rest. The midfielder took the ball in Madrid's attacking half, took a couple of dribbles and fired a long range effort towards goal. It took a wicked deflection off of Krychowiak and fell into the opposite corner of the net. It took a little luck but Atletico Madrid were up 2-0 and they had all the energy.

New signing Jackson Martinez finished off Sevilla with a wonder strike in the 81st minute to make it 3-0. He took the ball from about 25 yards and curled it into the net with his left foot.

It was a huge win for Atletico Madrid as they have taken all six points from a possible six points this season.
