First-place Spain will host second last-place Luxembourg on the 9th matchday of European Qualifiers. This match doesn't have any importance for either team because Spain has already qualified for the European Championship in France and Luxembourg don't have any chance to reach the finals.

How did the first leg go?

Almost exactly one year ago, both teams faced each other in first leg of European Qualifiers. Spain started with their best avaible team including Valencia's Paco Alcacer and Atletico's Koke. The match ended with 0-4 for the guests. David Silva scored the opener in the 27th minute, Paco Alcacer extended it three minutes before halftime. After the halftime interval, Diego Costa scored to make it 0-3 nine minutes after the hour mark and subbed-in Juan Bernat with the final result, 0-4, two minutes before final whistle.

Current form in Qualifiers

Spain is currently in superb form in European Qualifiers and thanks to their last win against Macedonia the team advanced out of the group and got a starting grid in European Championship 2016 in France. Apart from one loss against Slovakia on second matchday, Spain won every other match and is currently in first position with 21 points and +15 goal difference. On the last matchday, Spain will play against Ukraine - an absolutely cracker, because Ukraine need a win to secure the directly qualification for European Championship.

Luxembourg is the complete opposite of Spain and is as expected in the second to last place with only four points and -15 goal differential. Highest loss in this Qualifiers was on third matchday against upcoming opponent Spain. The chance for Luxembourg to reach fourth place in table is very faint. After Spain match, Slovakia will be the last opponent in this Qualifiers.

Prediction

Apart from importance of this match, Spain still have a very good sqaud and will definitely play with a strong team which has more than enough to beat Luxembourg. It might be that Vicente Del Bosque will give some rest to their key players and rotate a bit as compared to last line-up against Slovakia.
