Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla have announced that they have agreed on a deal for defender Federico Fazio as he will join Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season. It will be a reunion for the defender as he played for Sevilla for seven seasons.
He joined Spurs in the summer of 2014 but failed to make an impact on the squad. He will have a chance to prove himself at his former club however.
He wasn't the only defender to leave White Hart Lane as they sold Milos Veljkovic to Werder Bremen.
Tough time at Spurs
Life was tough for Fazio at Spurs. He joined from Sevilla two years ago in a 11.5M Euro move but failed to find a solid spot on Mauricio Pochettino's team. He has failed to make an appearance this year in the Premier League this year after making 20 appearances last year.
Some of this is attained to the rise of Toby Alderweireld as the Belgian has fit in well with Jan Vertonghen as they form a Belgian duo at the back for Tottenham. But an injury to the captain saw a chance for Fazio to make an impact in the FA Cup. But youngster Kevin Wimmer was chosen over him and his fate was sealed.
Back at Sevilla
Fazio is back on his old grounds as he goes back to the club where he spent his first seven years of European football. He will have a chance to get some playing time in Unai Emery's squad as they look to qualify for Europe again in La Liga.
It will be hard as they already have a set squad but with Europa League and the Copa Del Rey still in play for Sevilla, squad rotation will allow Fazio some playing time.
