La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have completed the signing of Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro for a reported transfer fee of £27million pounds. The talented 29-year-old, who flourished with the Rojiblancos last term, netted 29 goals and created seven assists in all competitions.

Sevilla finished seventh in La Liga, but won the UEFA Europa League - meaning they automatically qualify for the 2016/17 Champions League as winners of the sister competition.

Gameiro was key for Sevilla, can he replicate his success?

Gameiro was an instrumental part of the club's success, and either scored or assisted in every round of the Europa League; including a brace against Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-finals and a goal against Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool side in the eventual final.

Atlético have signed the Frenchman on a four-year contract deal, with personal terms already agreed. He'll now be relishing the competition with his new team-mates for a starting spot in Diego Simeone's ever-improving side, with both Fernando Torres and star man Antoine Griezmann ahead of the forthcoming La Liga campaign - which kicks off in the middle of August.

Going the opposite way is Luciano Vietto (season-long loan deal, option to buy), with Jorge Sampaoli continuing to add to his new side. Toulouse forward Wissam Ben Yedder has also joined over this weekend, showing that life after Gameiro is well and truly underway as they prepare for another competitive campaign in both Spain and European competitions too.

Gameiro will be officially unveiled as an Atlético player on Sunday evening (7pm BST onwards), after a presentation to the media as well as a meet and greet with some of his new supporters at the Vicente Calderón stadium.
