Floyd Mayweather has told the media that he is ready for an epic battle with 35-year-old Filipino Manny Pacquiao; which could be his last fight and arguably his most important to decipher who the best boxer is of this current generation.

He won a unanimous points victory (116-111, 116-111, 115-112) over Argentinian Marcos Maidana on Saturday night, and after quotes from him confirming his retirement in September 2015 - he only has two more fights left to go. Many have tried and failed to beat "Pretty Boy" Mayweather since his professional boxing debut back in 1996, and he is yet to lose in his incredible 47-0 record.

British-born boxer Amir Khan has accused Mayweather of "running scared", having himself overcome visa issues to personally make it to Mayweather's fight late on Saturday night in Las Vegas. He publicly taunted Floyd, saying in the aftermath of his win: "After seeing him win I believe I will beat him. Floyd, as we all know, isn't the biggest puncher. His footwork has slowed down, he only throws single punches and gets hit a lot more - we all know Maidana isn't the quickest, and he still got through with shots. Now it makes sense why the fight isn't happening between me and Mayweather. Is he afraid of the speed, explosiveness and power? Floyd - let's get it on!"

Mayweather had this to say about the possibility of a fight with Pacquiao: "I've got to go back and talk to my team, I'm not ducking or dodging no opponent. If a Pacquiao fight presents itself, let's make it happen."

There were rumours over a potential fight between the two, back in 2012 but due to Pacquiao's poor run of results the speculation was cooled and Mayweather carried on with his own gameplan. Based on the two athletes' ages, the possibility of a fight between the two is ever-present but more so based on Mayweather's current position; as he is retiring soon so it's either now or never. Despite reports that Mayweather isn't as good as he was when he was younger and more "fresh", he'll want to go out on a high.
