Lucien Reid has signed a professional deal with Matchroom Boxing, ensuring he will make his competitive debut on a colossal night at the O2 arena on May 30.

Reid, who is tried by Peter Sims in Essex, will kick-off proceedings in his professional career as a super bantamweight, having enjoyed a successful amateur career. ‘Lethal’ Lucien recently claimed the senior ABA Elite 54kg title in 2013, but lost out in the 56kg final last year.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, who recently announced two title shots for Kevin Mitchell and Lee Selby, has suggested he is expecting big things from the 21-year-old West Ham ABC product.

“Lucien is a great addition to the Matchroom Boxing team," said Hearn. "He is a really exciting talent and very popular in London, I am sure he will be a big draw on our shows and what a great bill to make your debut on."

Reid has now become the latest addition to an ever-growing card in London, in which Mitchell challenges Jorge Linares for the WBC lightweight title and Selby faces Evgeny Gradowich, the IBF featherweight king.

He will also be joined by Olympic heavyweight gold medallist Anthony Joshua, who will clash with former heavyweight world title challenge Kevin Johnson.

Further fights are expected to be added over the coming weeks for the action-packed
