Kell Brook has called for a fight with Amir Khan in the coming months, after successfully defending his IBF welterweight title in Sheffield with a victory over Jo Jo Dan on Saturday.

The 28-year-old somewhat strolled to success in his hometown, which eventually saw the Romanian’s corner call a halt to the fight after four rounds which saw him battered and bruised – floored on four occasions while struggling to fight back at Brook.

And speaking after the bout, Brook announced he had set his sights on a big-name fight in the summer – while remaining determined to finally settle his rivalry with Khan following his successful return from a horrific leg injury.

“Who does everyone want me to fight?” he exclaimed after defending his title. “Do they want me to fight Khan? [Juan Manuel] Marquez, Brandon Rios, bring them on. I’m world champion. I just want to entertain all you guys.”

Furthermore, promoter Eddie Hearn is determined to set the stage for a Brook-Khan clash this year, suggested a monumental domestic clash at Wembley on June 13.

“Well listen, there’s a little venue available on June 13th,” he added. “If Amir Khan’s watching, give everyone what they want. Everybody wants that. Amir Khan hasn’t got an opponent. He’s talking about fighters that are a much lesser scale than Kell Brook. It’s the biggest pay day of his career. It’s the biggest pay day available. It’s for a world title.”

With Hearn electrifying the crowd with the potential bout, Brook issued a further challenge to the Bolton boxer, adding: "If you're watching, come and get in this ring with me. I know you’re delicate around the whiskers, I’ll take you out.”

Within the last week Khan had previously admitted he wanted to face Miguel Cotto, and sent a message of congratulations to Brook after his first fight back following the stabbing incident. "Well done Kell nice to see you back in the ring #EasyWork."

And having received a hero’s welcome back at the Motorpoint Arena, Brook acknowledged that it had been an emotional return after seven months out.

He said: "It was truly amazing to walk out in front of all my fans and I didn't think I would ever box again. Here I am filling arenas. I can't put into words how much it means to be back and defending a world title. It means everything to me. It was hard there holding it together and seeing everyone there on their phones. This is where I belong and I'm sorry that I kept you waiting but I hope you had a good night and enjoyed world championship boxing. I'm back baby.

"I caught him with some good clean shots but he kept getting back up. I've been out for a while. There's much more to come from me. That's just to knock the cobwebs off and I will be back out in June in a massive fight. I'm back."

Kell Brook remains undefeated with 34 wins and 24 knockouts.
