It only took Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs) 91 seconds to crush Mike Perez (21-2, 13 KOs) and becoming the mandatory challenger for Deontay Wilder's WBC heavyweight title this past Friday in Moscow.

Povetkin, a former WBA heavyweight champion, whose only loss was to Wladimir Klitschko in what was a poorly refereed clinch-fest, hurt Perez badly with a right hand and half a minute later the referee stopped the bout.

Perez was on a speedy rise through the heavyweight rankings until after his fight against Mago Abdusalamov, which aired on HBO. Abdusalamov recieved traumatic brain injuries following the fight and has since been bound to a wheelchair with paralysis of most of his body. Perez was truly affected by the result of this fight and never again did he reach his top fighting form.

Povetkin is slated to make a deal with Wilder's camp or it will now go to a mandatory purse bid in the WBC offices in Mexico.
