With Nigerians itching to know who will take charge of the Super Eagles for the World Cup qualifiers in October, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has now moved to secure two sponsors for the yet to be unveiled coach of the senior national team.
Former Les bleus player Paul Le Guen has been tipped as the favourite to land the job as unconfirmed reports from the Glass house in Abuja points to the fact that the federation has been able to get the nod of two reputable corporate organisations to foot the bill of the new coach of the senior national team.
Chris Green's led technical Committee look to ease the financial burden on the federation just as the federation itself is working towards sorting out all the conditions of making a foreign coach work in Nigeria.
The favourite, Paul Le Guen, during his playing career enjoyed successful stays with FC Nantes and PSG and won 17 caps for the French national team. Le Guen had a successful managerial career in France, most notably leading Olympique Lyonnais to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles. He has also managed Stade Rennais, Paris Saint-Germain, Glasgow Rangers , Cameroon and Oman- a post he held until 2015.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior are already processing papers for Nigeria’s foreign coach. The World Cup qualifiers kicks off in October and only one team will qualify from the group. Nigeria has Algeria, Cameroon, and Zambia to contend with in group b for the sole ticket in the group.
