Former Nigeria U20 player Olaitan Michael has joined Greek Superleague side Panionios F.C. on a free after being released by Olympiacos on Thursday.

The 23 year old has officially been announced by the club and said to have signed a one year deal plus another option of a further year subject to performance. Michael was previously with Dutch side FC Twente on loan from Olympiacos but failed to impress as the lanky striker couldn’t find the net in 18 appearances.

Michael started his career at the youth team of Mighty Jets in the Nigerian Premier League but in February 2011 he decided to join Veria in Greece and who were playing in the Football League at the time. After a two-year successful spell, he joined Greek champions Olympiacos on a free in 2013.

The move was however sealed at the club’s premises with Panionios F.C. president Christos Dara and the manager of the football department, Mr. Nikos Zamani present.

Marinos Ouzounidis, head coach of the side will be super delighted with the capture of Michael as his side push for even a better 2016/17 season. Panionios finished 5th last season in the superleague but will immediately try to build on what is regarded as a successful season.
