Enyimba forward Abu Azeez says his team will aim for glory in the Oriental Derby this weekend at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Both teams are cuddled up in the top five of the NPFL log table and will be seeking additional points to maintain a reasonable distance from Wikki Tourists who are league leaders.

“Rangers match will be a normal match, we’ll try to win just as we always wanted to. We are geared up knowing that the victory pushes us up and them (Rangers) down” Azeez told Vavel Nigeria.

Despite Azeez’s confidence, Enyimba’s attack has been goal shy this season and no Player has scored up to five league goals this season with Azeez just netting twice himself.

The trio of Joseph Osadiaye, Chima Akas and Nzube Anaezemba are the clubs leading poachers with three goals each but perhaps this is where Enyimba is most dangerous as opposing teams cannot concentrate on a particular player.

Enugu Rangers forward Chisom Egbuchulam has scored 11 league goals this season

In contrast, Rangers have got the very inform Chisom Egbuchulam who has scored 11 league goals this term and will certainly be who the team will rely on in front of goal.

Rangers are second on the log and will need to be ruthless if they are to reclaim their top spot from Wikki. Rangers Coach Imama Amapakabo has admitted to the fact that the Oriental derby will be similar to a cup final.

“My players have nine finals to play in the NPFL, starting with the game against Enyimba on Sunday in Port-Harcourt" he revealed via the club’s official website.

With 12 wins out of the 25 league games played so far this season, Enyimba Coach Paul Aigbogun knows that patience is getting thinned from the board and fans.

A win is most likely to sway vote of no confidence on the coach at this stage. Regardless of the inconsistencies of Enyimba, Abu Azeez seems to be solidly behind the coaching crew and does not believe the club has underperformed.

“We are in the last 8 of the CAF Champions League and in top five of the league and we are not doing well? Same domestic league we have two outstanding matches?” Abu Azeez queried.

Truly, all scenarios would change if Enyimba were to win the Oriental derby on Sunday and win their two outstanding games but at this point, ‘ifs’ will not do Enyimba any good, positive result on Sunday will probably do.
