Newcastle host their second game of the 2015 Rugby World Cup on Friday evening, when New Zealand and Tonga meet at St James' Park, with both sides in need of points.

Tonga are most in need of a victory, which could still see them qualify for the quarter-finals if Argentina are stunned Namibia, but more importantly will see them grab third spot in Pool C ahead of Georgia, giving them automatic qualification to the World Cup in four years time.

For New Zealand, a point will confirm their spot at the top of the pool, with Argentina expected to grab the full five points against a Namibia side who gave their all on Wednesday evening, falling just short against Georgia.

This game will be a battle of the war dances before the game, with the Kiwi's Haka up against the Tongan Sipi Tau set to light up the stadium prior to kickoff.

Read to lead after Hansen tinkers

For the All Blacks, a quarter-final place is confirmed, giving Steve Hansen the opportunity to test some different combinations ahead of the big games to come.

Richie McCaw is given a rest, with his heir apparent Sam Cane taking the seven jersey, to join Jerome Kaino, and skipper for the game Kieran Read, in the back-row.

Waisake Naholo and Nehe Milner-Skudder are given opportunities to claim the second wing spot opposite of the rested Julian Savea, whilst Luke Romano comes in for Brodie Retallick in the second-row.

It will be a special occasion for All Black legend Ma'a Nonu who will be making his 100th appearance for his country, with the 33-year old saying of his achievement, "looking back, it hasn’t been easy, it’s really been a lot of hard work – and a lot of fun times."

Otai changes just one for must-win game

Having to beat New Zealand just to finish third in the pool is not a position Tonga would like to have found themselves in when starting out three weeks ago.

Following the opening loss to Georgia it was always going to be a tough ask to reach the knockout stages, but now they need a win against the world champions to guarantee qualification for the 2019 World Cup.

Head coach Mana 'Otai has kept changes to a minimum following defeat against the Pumas last Sunday, with Latiume Fosita the only new name in the side, where he starts at inside centre in place of Sione Piukala

A pair of Newcastle Falcons in captain Nili Latu and scrum-half Sonatane Takulua will be playing in Newcastle on Friday, although the game is at the football stadium, rather than the one will soon be playing at for their club.

Star wingers Fetu'u Vainikolo and Telusa Veainu will be looking to make their mark against the world's best side, whilst there is a huge boost on the bench with man-of-the-match in the win over Namibia, Jack Ram, returning from injury to take his place amongst the matchay 23.
