There was like a smell of Davis Cup yesterday on the Chatrier Central Court. After a great fight between Sharapova and Halep, the men's doubles final was won by the Frenchmen 6-4 7-6(1) against Spaniards Marc Lopez and Marcel Granollers.

The Frenchmen had a really good start by getting break points on the second service game of the Spaniards. They finally broke them for a 5-3 lead in the first set and won it 6-3. They also made a strong start in the second set with a break on the very fist service game of the Spaniards but they blew their advantage at 3-1. The pairs hold their service games until the tie-break. Again the Frenchmen did a nice start with a mini-break on the first point of the tie break thanks to a backhand service return of Vasselin that Granollers netted, they lost the last 4 points and lose the tie-break 7 points to 1.

This match was also a good preview for the frenchteam captain Arnaud Clement in preparation of the semi-final against Czech Republic.

Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin became the first French double team to win the men's doubles French Open since Yannick Noah and Henri Leconte in 1984.
