Eugenie Bouchard produced another breath taking performance defeating the ninth ranked Angelique Kerber in a comfortable fashion, as she swept her past the German with a 63 64 victory.

At the start of the match and despite being the higher ranked of the two, there seemed to be less pressure on the shoulders of the German as the two players took to court.  Whereas one will struggle to go ten minutes without hearing the Canadian's name mentioned, Kerber had ghosted through the first couple of rounds with barely so much as a headline.  That was until the previous round where she performed superbly in her shock win against the favourite, Maria Sharapova.

But the opening couple of games suggested a confident affair, with both players serving robustly and neither allowing the other an inch. On and on and on the two players played, with neither looking like giving up their service game.  But that was until the seventh game of the set, when out of nowhere Kerber suddenly found herself 30-40 on the Bouchard serve.

While Bouchard may have dragged the game back to deuce, a topsy-turvy spell ensued, with Kerber having four break point opportunities and Bouchard saving each and every single one of them, before eventually sneaking through the game in its eighth minute.

Kerber would rue to regret the missed opportunties in the very next game, finding herself in a battle at deuce before a miserable second serve was pounced upon by Bouchard to claim a break point and everyone knows by now that the Canadian needs no second invitation.

In no time at all, she served out the set and suddenly looked very comfortable indeed as she took her place at the changeover.  Kerber, however, looking incredibly flustered indeed.

Bouchard, meawhile, was looking as solid as she ever had, returning the ball superbly well, and pouncing on every single one of Kerber's second serves, which struggled to reach the court at times; and she was punished yet again in her second service game, as Bouchard imperiously broke down the German to race into a 2-1 lead with a break.

She wasn't done there, with Bouchard instantly attacking the next Kerber services game with a firery determination of a player who wanted to finish the match as soon as she could.  Battling her way yet again to deuce, the two players were involved in another titanic struggle, with Kerber trying to claw her way back into the match, and Bouchard trying to end it.  But, on yet another break point, she finally sealed it, 4-1 in front and now looking to be far beyond the German.

However, Kerber wasn't done just yet, and fought valliantly to break down Bouchard in the very next game and holding her serve to heap the pressure onto the shoulders of the Canadian.  However, it proved to be too little too late, and despite dragging the game to deuce, another forehand error from Angelique Kerber dropped inches out and Eugenie Boucard was into her third major semi-final in a row.

She will now play the imperious Simona Halep, who dominated Sabine Lisicki only minutes before, in what is sure to be a handy insight into the future of women's tennis.
