Andy Murray was playing his 2nd ATP 250 final in 4 weeks, his opponent was David Ferrer, who had beaten him in a 3 set battle just last week in Shanghai.  Both players had received Wild Cards to this tournaments and were the Number 1 and Number 2 seeds.  Andy would be looking to boost his end of year rankings and his Race to London points, winning here would certainly help both.

In the first set and they were going toe to toe, at 5-5 Andy was serving to try and make David serve for a tiebreak, however a very loose game by Andy resulted in a break to the Spaniard, who then held his own serve to take the first set 7-5.  If he was going to do it, he would have to do it the hard way.

Andy made the perfect start to the second set and broke David early and then held his own serve for a 2-0 lead.  Try as he might David was struggling in the second set and got broken again as Andy lead 5-2, he would be serving to level the match.  His first serve had been in poor form in the first set, could he get this set and level the match.  Andy served out the set (not without some wobbles) to take this into a third.

Moving into the final and deciding set, things did not start well.  Andy was soon 4-2 down and looked to be on his way out, as David won 3 games on the bounce to lead.  Andy was not giving up though, and fought back to 5-3 with David serving for the match.  This could be all over quickly, however Andy finally applied some pressure and his shots were finding their range, he was back level at 5-5 and needed to break then hold for the championship.  On break point David served a double fault to hand him the game, nothing was certain yet, breaks had been exchanged all set to this point.  Andy just needed to serve it out, even with his first serve not firing really well he got to match point without too much difficulty.  He then served an ace, which David challenged, but it was good.  The title was his, and well deserved after such a battle.  This takes him to 8th in the Race to London currently, he has Valencia and Paris in which to add more valuable points and try to stay there or climb higher.
