Caroline Wozniacki sealed her place in her first clay-court final since 2011 today, with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 victory over Simona Halep. 

Between 2013 and 2015, Wozniacki just had won two games on clay, against Laura Robson in the French Open 2013 first round and against Ekaterina Makarova in the first round of the 2014 Mutua Madrid Open.

Wozniacki played some aggressive tennis and won a tight first 7-5 at the second set point. The second set was less level-headed and Halep started winning by two games to love, but when she was leading by four games to three Caroline broke right back to equal the game four all. At five all, Simona broke and toke the second set 7-5. The game was tied, one set for each side and the fans were loving that match but in the third set, the match was even less well-balanced and Wozniacki did a few early breaks and took the lead by five games to one. Halep gave signs of a comeback, breaking back to stay in the match but Caroline broke again to take the match and by 7-5 5-7 6-2 at the end of two hours and fifty-eight minutes.

The Danish woman played really well, hitting 6 aces and putting 77% of her first serves in. She saved 15 of 19 breakpoints she faced and won a total of 124 points in 237. 

Halep was not as good as Caroline but she also had positive things in the match. The Romanian hit four aces and made two double faults. She put 65% of her first serves in and won 50% of second serve return points. During the game she won 113 points.

The star of Romania didn't leave the tournament empty handed, during her stay she reclaimed the number two spot on WTA, overtaking Maria Sharapova that will be ranked in third starting next week. Simona had already been in the second place of the women's hierarchy before. 

The former world number one, "Caro" how she is known in the circuit and between the fans, and Simona will now play at Mutua Madrid Open that is played from the first to tenth day of May 2015.
