In another unfortunate event for BMW Open finalists Andy Murray and Philipp Kohlschreiber, the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Munich was rained out once again forcing the final to be played on Monday. After a washout on Friday, Andy Murray was forced to play both his quarterfinal and semifinal matches yesterday. Meanwhile, Kohlschreiber finished his quarterfinal match which started on Friday, yesterday, as well as playing his semifinal match. The match is currently on serve with Kohlschreiber leading 3-2 on serve in the first set.

The weather has been unlucky for these two as both men had their sights set on playing in Madrid sooner than later. Kohlschreiber was likely going to play his first round match at the Mutua Madrid Masters tomorrow against Alejandro Falla but that is likely going to be pushed back to Tuesday now. Murray, seeded second in Madrid, received a bye into the second round, and a possible showdown against his fellow Munich finalist awaits in the second round. If these two were to meet, this would most likely be on Wednesday in what looks like the finishing off of second round matches.

Luck has not been on the side of either player this week and will continue into next week. Should Murray make the final of Madrid, he will have played eight matches in seven days. That is an unprecedented number of matches for someone ranked so highly. That number of matches in that many days is only seen for qualifiers, or a player who is constantly playing 250 events. If Kohlschreiber were to make the final, that would be 11 matches in 11 days. We know that you cannot control Mother Nature, but Munich should be planned a bit better so playing twice in one day or a tournament overlap shouldn’t happen again. Either way, good luck to both of these men tomorrow, it’s going to be a long next few days.
