Andy Murray marched into his 28th consecutive third round grand slam appearance with an easy win over the experienced Robin Haase.  Murray, who is a favourite for the title, barely broke sweat in his 6-1 6-1 6-4 win.

The record before the match read well for Murray before his round three tie with Haase. Murray winning three compared to Haase winning just the once against the home favourite.

1st Set - 6-1

Early in the first set Haase showed intent with some brutal forehand returns from Murray’s serve. The Scots accuracy from his service fluctuated early on with a double let. From there though Murray did not look back breaking Haase’s serve in the third game with Haase being knocked all around the court.

The Dutchman’s powerful serve was counteracted with Murray’s renown backhand. Haase’s execution was lacking with his trademark forehand easily picked off by the 2013 Wimbledon champion.

The Scot closed out the first set in style with an array of lob shots to beat Haase who seemed to be taking too many risks. He took the first set 6-1

2nd Set - 6-1

Murray again dominated the second set leaving no space for Haase to take any sort of advantage. After 48 minutes the second set was wrapped up.

Haase struggled to mount a serious counter to Murray’s dominant returns, forehands, and backhands. Haase producing nine unforced errors in the second set compared to Murray’s five.

Andy Murray was in full flow with some fine lobs to bamboozle off the pace Robin Haase. The whole flow being controlled by Murray’s fantastic baseline play.

3rd Set 6-4

Murray went into set three looking to get the match done in under an hour and a half, anything more would of been damaging. He went about the set the right way taking the early advantage against his Dutch opponent.

Haase took the early break leading at 2-1 midway through the third set. Then going 3-2 up against his Scottish counterpart. The flow of the game continued to throw from Murray to Haase throughout the third set.

Murray recovered  to be 5-3 up to only be pegged back to 5-4. An exquisite drop-shot finished the tie with Murray safely through to the third round where

Murray Too Good As Haase Errors Pay

Haase never got going though and soon lost the final game to hand Murray the match. 6-1 6-1 6-4. The match finishing after 1 hour 27 minutes.

For Murray, it was a job well done. For Haase too many unforced errors (27) and nerves meant he was on the end of a vintage Murray performance who won 82% of 1st service points.

The rapturous crowd were behind Murray and carried him through without breaking a sweat. A new style on grass for Murray is proving to be a recipe for a strong tournament with an attacking finesse mixed with his strong net-play meaning Murray’s chances of winning Wimbledon are stronger than ever before.

Murray said after the match, "I am very happy with the way I played. I felt there were things I could do better in the first round but today I did things much better. I felt like I dictated the baseline rallies."

He will now prepare for his third round match, where he will face either Italy's Andreas Seppi or young Croat Borna Coric.
