It was not a good day for the Brits today, with mostly doubles and juniors in action the results did not go our way.  Here is a quick round up of the action in the Australian Open .

Jocelyn Rae & Anna Smith

The Brits had made it to the third round, and now faced the second seeds. Unfortunately the seeds Yung-Jan Chan & Hao-Ching Chan proved to be too stong for Rae & Smith today. The pair from Chinese Tapei played much to their ranking and took the first set 6-3.

The all British team got a little closer in the second set as they were fighting to move into round four. However, it was not to be as the seeds took the set 6-4. This has been a nice run for the Brits and is a nice warm up for the Fed Cup.

Dom Inglot

Inglot & Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova were in round one of the mixed doubles and faced the top seeds Martina Hingis & Leander Paes, the top seeds were soon on top in the set taking it 6-3.

In the second set Inglot & Pavlyuchenkova were playing better and the set was definately much closer. However Hingis & Paes were still playing how the top seeds do, and in the end were just too strong for Inglot & Pavlyuchenkova.

Junior doubles

In the boys doubles there was British interest in two matches. First up was Ewan Moore & Zsombor Piros against Alex De Minaur & Blake Ellis an all Australian team. Moore & Piros were unable to get the win as the Australians were just too good and took the match 6-3, 6-3.

The other match with British interest featured Jay Clarke with Miomir Kecmanovic against another all Australian team of Moerani Bouzige & Kody Pearson. Clarke & Kecmanovic had storming start and served up a breadstick in the first set. The second set saw the Australians fight hard to stay with them and eventually the set went to a tiebreak which the Australians won 7-4. The final set has no tiebreaker and it ended up being a very long one, however the Australians won this 17-15 to knock out Clarke

Junior Singles

Moore was also in singles action and faced Khumoun Sultanov, the Brit struggled to make inroads into the Sultanov serve and the Uzbekistan player soon had the first set 6-4. The second set saw the Uzbekistan player take even more control as the Brit was still not getting anything on the serve. Eventually Sultanov took the second set 6-2 and into the next round.

Ema Lazic was our girls singles player in action today, she found herself against Jamiee Fourlis an Australian. Fourlis was too strong for the Brit and took the match 6-4, 6-3.
