Many things have happened in the 2014 MLS season so far. Teams have lost many games, others have won many games. However, there are many disappointments and surprises that have happened.

One of the surprises and disappointments would be how low the LA Galaxy are in the standings compared to last year. This year, they are in seventh place currently with four games won, three games lost and five games drawn. What happened to the club from last year? That's what Landon Donovan and Co. are trying to find out.

A big surprise is that DC United are in first place in the Eastern Conference. Last year, they ended in 10th place. What has happened to this club? For starters, they have received both Fabian Espindola, who leads DCU in both goals and assists, and Eddie Johnson. Both have revived DCU's offense, and although Johnson only has 1 goal, his presence and ability to create chances has been critical.

The Portland Timbers have been a disappointment and surprise as well. They went from a team who made the Western Conference Championship in the previous season to a team who is in 6th place at the moment.

Real Salt Lake have been a surprise. With a new head coach, many thought this year would be a rebuilding year, but it hasn't been. They are tied for second place in the league for points, and are in second place in the West. RSL have achieved successful results without some of their key players like Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando, and Alvaro Saborio. Although they are second in the West, they haven't looked like a second place team recently. They were routed by Seattle, drew vs. Columbus, and lost in embarrassing fashion in the US Open Cup to the Atlanta Silverbacks.

What happened to the New York Red Bulls? They won the Supporters Shield last year, and now they are in 5th place in the East.

Many things have changed with teams this year, but all are aiming for one thing: the MLS Cup. They still have half of a season to get points to compete for that. Will some teams come from behind to make the playoffs? Will some come from behind and win the whole thing? You'll have to tune in to find out.
