Eintracht Frankfurt have bolstered their defence for the season ahead as they look to avoid the drop once more by bringing in Chelsea defender Michael Hector on a season-long loan. Having spent last term on loan at Reading, where he came through the youth system before joining the Londoners, the promising defender will look to steady one of last season's weakest defences.

Hector has already been involved in two of Chelsea's pre-season squads to both America and Austria, and having impressed Antonio Conte, he has now been sent to Germany in a bid to improve his game further.

Another loan move for the boy from East Ham

The 24-year-old boyhood Chelsea fan has made over 80 appearances for Reading in seven years at the club, including last season's loan move.

During his time at Reading, he spent much of it out on loan on a whistle stop tour of the English lower leagues that saw him appear for the likes of Barnet and Oxford City, before a loan move for Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen in 2013.

Born in London, he was eligible to play for either England or Jamaica but in 2015 he made his debut for the latter and has so far secured 17 caps for his country; including Jamaica's three group games at this year's Copa America.

Can Kovac steady they Frankfrut ship?

He becomes Frankfurt manager Niko Kovac's ninth summer signing, as he looks to rectify their alarming league position of last year where Die Adler survived the drop in the last weekend of the season. Having already brought in the likes of Omar Mascarell from Real Madrid, Hector represents his second dip into the English market, with Guillermo Varella having already joined on loan from Manchester United.
