Chesham Stakes (Listed)

The first race of the day at Ascot was the Chesham Stakes for 2 year olds. A field of 14 went seven furlongs on a good-to-firm turf course.

After a slow star, Richard Pankhurst made a strong move in the final quarter mile to capture the opening race by 3 3/4 lengths at odds of 10-1. Toscanini had a similar trip, but was no match for Richard Pankhurst at 4-1. The 15-8 favorite, Dick Whittington, tracked the leaders during the race, but did not have the late kick needed to make an impact.

Richard Pankhurst is trained by John Gosden and was ridden by William Buick. The final running time for the seven furlongs on turf was 1:27.58. Wesley Ward's ran two horses in this race - Cordero and Crown the Kitten. Cordero finished 6th after stalking the leaders while Crown the Kitten finished 10th after setting the pace.

The official order of finish was Richard Pankhurst, Toscanini, Dick Whittington, Nafaqa, Justice Well, Cordero, Franklin D, Caprior Bere, Juventas, Crown The Kitten, Via Via, Groor, Jaganory, and Loretta Martin. Marmalad was a non-runner.

Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap)

The second race of the day was the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes for 3 year olds and upward. 18 horses took part in the mile and a half race on the good-to-firm turf course.

Arab Spring got the job done as the 11-4 favorite. Arab Spring tracked the leaders before making a move with two furlongs remanding. He took the lead with a little over a furlong left to run and easily pulled away for a two length win. Salutation tried to take the field gate-to-wire, but was no match for the winner. Salutation held second by a length and a quarter at odds of 25-1. Havana Cooler broke slowly but was able to make a strong enough move to get up for third just before the wire at odds of 12-1.

Arab Spring is trained by Sir Michael Stoute and was ridden by Ryan Moore. He ran the mile and a half in 2:28.85.

The final order of finish was Arab Spring, Salutation, Havana Cooler, Elidor, Dashing Star, Elhaame, Wadi Al Hattawi, Aussie Reigns, Continuum, Lahaag, Groundbreaking, Eshtiaal, Hamelin, Macbeth, Beacon Lady, Viewpoint, One Pursuit, and Squire Osbaldeston. Blue Surf was a non-runner.

Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2)

The third race at Ascot was the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes for 4 year olds and upward at a mile and a half. 10 runners participated in this event on the good-to-firm turf course.

For the second race in a row Ryan Moore and Sir Michael Stoute teamed up to win. As with the second race, it was the favorite who got the job done. Telescope used a stalking trip behind the leaders to score a very easy seven length victory at 7-4. Hillstar came from the rear of the field to grab second by a head at 7-1. Pether's Moon tried a stalking trip as well, but lost second in the final strides at odds of 8-1.

As previously mentioned, Telescope is trained by Sir Michael Stoute and was ridden by Ryan Moore. The final time for the race was 2:27.45.

The order of finish was Telescope, Hillstar, Pether's Moon, Forgotten Voice, Sharestan, Dandino, Joshua Tree, Camborne, Eye of the Storm, and Ektihaam.

Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Group 1)

Race four was the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes for 3 year olds and upward at six furlongs. A field of 14 horses ran on the good-to-firm turf course.

Another favorite scored at Ascot, this time it was Slade Power. Slade Power chased the leaders for the first two thirds of the race before taking over the lead in the final two furlongs. From there, Slade Power stayed on despite hanging to win by a length and a half at odds of 7-2. Due Diligence led the center group halfway through the race and held on well to keep second place by a head at odds of 5-1. Aljamaaheer used a late surge to grab third place in the final yards of the race but was no threat to Slade Power at odds of 4-1.

Slade Power is trained by Edward Lynam and was ridden to victory by Wayne Lordan. The final running time for the race was 1:12.04.

The official running order was Slade Power, Due Diligence, Aljamaaheer, Music Master, American Devil, Astaire, Jack Dexter, Gordon Lord Byron, Tropics, Darwin, Es Que Love, Montiridge, Medicean Man, and Hawkeyethenoo. Tawhid was a non-runner.

Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap)

The penultimate race on the card was the Wokingham Stakes for 3 year olds and upward. A large field of 28 horses went six furlongs on the good-to-firm turf course.

Baccarat overcame a slow start and rallied to the victory in the final two furlongs at odds of 9-1. Professor was in the middle of the center pack and got to the lead of the group before grabbing second in the final 100 yards. Professor was no match for the winner, finishing a length and a half behind at odds of 10-1. Rivellino got up for third place at the finish at odds of 25-1.

Baccarat was ridden by George Chaloner and is trained by Richard Fahey. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:12.09.

The official order of finish was Baccarat, Professor, Rivellino, Alben Star, Boomerang Bob, Rocky Ground, Dont Bother Me, Sirius Prospect, Glen Moss, Racy, Seeking Magic, Lancelot Du Lac, Ninjago, Hamza, Absolutely So, Secret Asset, Hoof It, Fast Shot, Arnold Lane, Barracuda Boy, Dungannon, Dandy Boy, Annunciation, Trinityelitedotcom, Jimmy Styles, Zero Money, Nocturnal Affair, and York Glory. Saayerr was a non-runner.

Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions Race)

The final race at the 2014 Royal Ascot meet was a long affair in the Queen Alexandra Stakes. 13 four year olds and upward went 21 furlongs (2 miles and 5 furlongs) on the good-to-firm turf course.

Pique Sous had a poor start when steadied, but made up good ground with three furlongs to run. Pique Sous took the lead with a furlong to run and was clear to the finish by a length and a half at odds of 11-4. El Salvador tracked the leaders throughout and then ran into traffic trouble late in the race. El Salvador eventually found room and got to second place in the final yards of the race at odds of 10-1. Brass Ring made a strong run from the last pair to grab second before yielding in the final strides and finishing third at odds of 6-1.

Pique Sous is trained by Willie Mullins and was ridden by Ryan Moore. It was Ryan Moore's third winner on the day. The final time for the 21 furlongs was 4:49.82.

The running order of the race was Pique Sous, El Salvador, Brass Ring, Tiger Cliff, Argent Knight, Number One London, First Avenue, Romeo Montague, Statutory, Royal Irish Hussar, Dollar Bill, Dark Ranger, and Petara Bay.

Mubaraza, Swinging Hawk, Whiplash Willie, and Petaluma were all non-runners.
