Next stage

The second day of the Tour of the Basque Country brings a relatively short route for a flat stage. The peloton will start from Irun and will compete for a third category mountain prize quickly, at kilometer 20, and the remaining 140 kilometers will serve to give reason or hope to a possible breakaway to achieve a feat. Of course, it can be misleading the route with constant slopes that, although they do not represent major difficulty,  can cause  havoc in some legs. We will reach French territory at the end in Kanbo.

It is also offered as a tourist destination to go with children and enjoy the family plans that proposes in addition to savor the traditional and popular Basque gastronomy through its pintxos after an afternoon of shopping in the more than 1,200 establishments with which the city counts.

Route of the stage

The time trial returns to the Itzulia and it does so with a short and not very demanding stage, but with several ramps. The first section will be vital to start off on the right foot and get into a good rhythm. There is a small area of cobblestones with a 10% ramp right at the start. There we will see who is serious. After several ups and downs begins the only ascent, a 1.7km climb at 5.2% that will have to do flat out. From there, cross the entire Olaberria neighborhood downhill until you reach the ramp that goes up to the town hall square. No big differences are expected between the favorites unless there are surprises.
