This left them as runner-up in the tournament and they qualified directly for the quarterfinals.
Portland looking to surprise
For their part, the Timbers will be looking to spring a surprise in Mexico to reach their first semifinal in this competition.
This weekend, in the third round of the MSL, they lost 4-1 away to FC Dallas.
