For his part, Hugo Ayala agreed with his coach, mentioning that at Tigres they are obliged to compete in a great way in any tournament in which they participate: "As in every tournament, Tigres is ready to fight for championships, we always take one match at a time. The team has prepared for this, they have a great squad to fight for any tournament that comes along. We come with that desire and the illusion of being able to be in a Final again, which is what we are used to, and that is what we want, what the team is aiming for, and we hope to be up to the challenge of the tournament".

With regard to tonight's match, Miguel Herrera, Tigres' manager, made it clear that his intention is to demonstrate the strength of his squad in all competitions: "We will go out to win it, this is no exception, despite the fact that it is not official or officially recognized by any confederation; for us, it is an important tournament and we will go out to win it with everything we have".

Seattle Sounders host Tigres

This Tuesday night in Washington, Seattle Sounders and Tigres will face each other in search of becoming the second semifinalist of the 2021 Leagues Cup. For the Rave Green, this will be the first time they will participate in this competition, while for UANL it will be the second time; in the previous one, the universitarios themselves were runners-up after losing to Cruz Azul in the final.

What is the format of the Leagues Cup 2021?

The competition consists of eight teams (four from MLS and four from Liga MX). The rounds will be of direct elimination, so there will be quarterfinals, semifinals and final; all of them will be played in a single match, which will be played in the United States. 

The participating clubs in the second edition of this competition are Orlando City, Santos, Seattle Sounders, Tigres, New York City, Pumas, Sporting Kansas City and Leon.

What is the Leagues Cup?

The Leagues Cup is a tournament in which MLS and Liga MX clubs participate, based in the United States. The teams that qualify for this competition are those that placed first in their local competitions; it should be noted that those competing in the CONCACAF Champions League cannot qualify for this competition.

From U.S. soccer, the fourth and fifth place finishers from the Eastern Conference and the first and second place finishers from the Western Conference in their previous competition advanced; from Mexican soccer, the third, fifth, sixth and seventh place finishers from the general table of the previous soccer season advanced.
