Addison Reed blew his second save of the season in dissapointing fashion to the Washington Nationals, as the Arizona Diamondbacks lost the series opener 6-5.

The Nationals jumped out to a early lead against Josh Collmenter, as Anthony Rendon hit a sacrifice fly to score Denard Span after his leadoff triple. Tyler Moore's solo homer in the second inning put Washington up 2-0. The D-backs would take the lead in the third inning after a series of four straight hits from Josh Collmenter, Martin Prado, Paul Goldschmidt and Miguel Montero would plate three runs off Jordan Zimmerman.

Josh Collmenter's rough start continued in the fourth inning after allowing a two run homer to Ian Desmond, failing to get the shut down inning. Collmenter only lasted five innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits.

Luckily for the D-backs, Jordan Zimmerman didn't have his best stuff either as A.J. Pollock would get the lead back by hitting a two run home run into the pool in right center. Zimmerman pitched 5.2 innings allowing five earned runs on ten hits, a very uncharacteristic start for him.

His teammates had his back and earned him a no decision in the ninth inning against Addison Reed. Reed gave up two solo shots to Danny Espinosa and Kevin Frandsen, marking the third straight appearence in which he has allowed a run. Despite his recent struggles, it was just Reed's second blown save on the season in 13 chances. Rafael Soriano allowed a single and a double in the bottom of the ninth, but managed to work around them to record his eighth save of the year.

Things don't get any easier for Arizona as they face flamethrower Stephen Strasburg on Tuesday. The D-backs counter with a complete alter ego of Strasburg, the crafty soft tosser Bronson Arroyo. The matchup fixes to be a great one, with both Strasburg and Arroyo pitching well as of late.
