The Arizona Diamondbacks let a second straight game slip from their grasp, as the St. Louis Cardinals completed the three game sweep of the D-backs with a 4-2 win Thursday night.

Arizona was off to a good start by sending seven men to the plate against Lance Lynn in the first inning, scoring two runs in the process. Paul Goldschmidt's RBI single and Aaron Hill's RBI sacrifice fly would be the only runs scored by the D-backs.

Wade Miley held St. Louis scoreless through 5.2 innings before he gave up a two run double to Shane Robinson that tied the game at two. Miley surrendered the lead the very next inning after getting two quick outs, but then walking Matt Holliday and giving up a RBI double to Allen Craig that ultimately ended his night. Miley pitched 6.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and four walks, in a losing effort. Lance Lynn was solid in a no decision effort, pitching six innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and six strikeouts.

The Cardinals added another run in the eighth inning on a Matt Carpenter RBI single. Trevor Rosenthal locked down the ninth inning for his 14th save on the season.

The D-backs will take on the New York Mets at Citi Field, in hopes of revenge after being swept at home in April. Chase Anderson will take the mound after winning his last start against the Dodgers, despite surrendering five runs. Bartolo Colon will be his counterpart. As for St. Louis, they head to Cincinnati to play the Reds. Shelby Miller and Homer Bailey will face off in the series opener.
