Wade Miley struck out nine Reds on Sunday, but he also surrendered four solo home runs. The fourth one was the deciding blow that gave the Cincinnati Reds the series and a 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Zack Cozart and Todd Frazier both went deep in the third inning, to be followed by a Ryan Ludwick homer in the fourth.

The Diamondbacks responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with a Miguel Montero RBI double, Eric Chavez sacrifice fly and Ender Inciarte RBI single to tie the game at three. Wade Miley wouldn't be able to get the shut down inning in the top of the fifth as Chris Heisey hit the game winning home run over the Diamondbacks bullpen. Miley received his sixth loss of the year after he pitched six innings, allowing the four home runs on eight hits.

Alfredo Simon recorded his seventh win of the year, pitching six innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits and a walk.

The D-backs (23-36) will get a much needed day off before starting a three game series with the Colorado Rockies (28-28) Tuesday night at Coors Field. Chase Anderson will look to improve his perfect record to 4-0 and Jorge De La Rosa will look to get the Rockies back on track, after they lost seven of their last nine games. As for the Reds, they head back to Cincinnati to start a series with NL West leading San Francisco Giants. Homer Bailey will face the Giants for the first time since no hitting them and Tim Lincecum is coming off a five inning no hit outing.

Worth Noting:

  • D-backs rookie outfielder David Peralta went 2 for 4 with two singles in his Major League debut Sunday, after being called up from AA Mobile in place of A.J. Pollock.
