With a farm system that's deep in pitching prospects, the New York Mets needed to add some offense to go along with their power arms. They have decided to solve some of that with their first-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, adding OF Michael Conforto with the 10th overall selection.

While Conforto is almost condemned to either be a corner outfielder or a first baseman, it seems likely that his bat will be good enough to find him a position in the field. Conforto is one of the most advanced hitters in this class and he has an advanced approach to go along with raw power to all fields.

Conforto has destroyed the College pitching with Oregon State while also showing the ability to get on base at a consistent clip. With a bat that's polished enough to move quickly, it seems like the Mets decided to take the safe round after going for upside in the last two Drafts.
