The Kansas City Royals absolutely hammered Wade Miley and the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday night, as the Royals hit three home runs en route to a 12-2 thrashing.

The D-backs got off to a good start, scoring a run in the first inning on a Mark Trumbo RBI single. The D-backs have struggled all year to score early and when they actually did, it was the only run they could manage against starter Danny Duffy. Duffy had pinpoint control of his 95 mph heater, that resulted in seven strikeouts and his sixth win of the year.

Wade Miley breezed through his first two innings and found trouble in his next three. Salvador Perez blasted a three run homer to left in the third inning to give the Royals a 3-1 lead. Kansas City never looked back, as Billy Butler did the same in the fifth inning, hitting a three run homer of his own. Alex Gordon scored on what was ruled a wild pitch, but was ultimately the result of the D-backs being unable to execute a simple rundown  of Lorenzo Cain. Miley left the game with two outs in the fifth inning, leaving the bases loaded for Bo Schultz to tinker with. Schultz gave up a grand slam to Nori Aoki, leaving Miley with ten earned runs to his name.

The D-backs scored their second run in the eighth inning on a Didi Gregorious RBI groundout, evidently way too little way too late. The Royals scored once more in the top of the ninth on a sacrifice fly from Lorenzo Cain.

Josh Collmenter and Yordano Ventura will be the starting pitchers for Wednesday's game.
