The Giants, after taking three out of four from the New York Mets, had a great opportunity to really put the stamp on the roadtrip. This is especially considering that they seem to play better on the road than they do in San Francisco. This series however was not quite the case, as a lot of different things seemed to go wrong at inopportune moments.

Tim Lincecum, who had made a statement in June and July, gave up a three spot to the Brewers on Tuesday night. Pablo Sandoval equalized that with a 3-run home run of his own, but a late inning homer given up by Jean Machi would shut the door on the Giants as they would fall 4-3. Lincecum has not had a winning decision in almost a month, and his ERA has increased to over four.

Sandoval continued his hot hitting on Wednesday night, as he had his third straight game with three RBI. Ryan Vogelsong had a rather shaky start, but the bullpen and offense helped to close it all out, winning 7-4. Contributions by Joe Panik and Michael Morse also helped to bolster the offense, in a game that seemed to take ages to play.

Unfortunately the offense did not come out in full force for the rubber match, as Jake Peavy gave up an early run and then unraveled in the sixth inning. It was actually Peavy who got the only run of the game, and the Giants were not able to capitalize on good opportunities with runners in scoring position. They fell to the Brewers, 3-1.

That has really been the tale for the Giants as of late, inconsistent offense. With the return of Angel Pagan, the Giants hoped to get a spark going in the offense that they have not really seen since May. He picked up right where he left off in Thursday's game though, collecting two hits and boosting his batting average up a couple points.

Brandon Belt sat out the last game of the series with a headache, though it is believed that the headache was not related to his concussion. Andrew Susac, the current backup catcher, took over catching duties today as Buster Posey moved to first. Should Brandon Belt return for San Francisco's next series against the Kansas City Royals, it will be the first time in nearly three months that they Giants will be able to field most all of their Opening Day starters.
