The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that they have signed outfielder Aaron Cunningham to a minor league deal. Cunningham will report to Arizona's Triple-A affiliate in Reno.

The Diamondbacks recently had released Cunningham on August 17th after he had experienced a tough season at Triple-A. Cunningham had managed a slash line of .255/.342/.346 with no home runs, 31 runs batted in and sixteen doubles in 281 plate appearances for Triple-A Reno.

Cunningham hasn't played in the big leagues since 2012 with the Cleveland Indians. He has had stints with the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock (last season) and Diamondbacks' Triple-A squad (this season). Cunningham has hit .219/.280/.347 with seven home runs and 51 runs batted in in 222 career games in the major leagues. He has also produced a -0.1 WAR and a 72 wRC+. Cunningham is able to play all three outfield positions, as he spent most of his time at Reno playing left field, before being cut.

Since infielder Ronny Cedeno is now on the temporary inactive list for Triple-A Reno, Cunningham will likely replace him on the team's roster for their postseason run. Reno clinched a playoff berth in the Pacific Coast League playoffs after a 2-1 win over the Oakland Athletics' Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento last night. Cunningham will likely not be called up to the big league team after his team is done with their playoff run.
