Game Start

7:57 PM EST: Just about game time! My name is Mitchell Evans and I will be joining you this evening in an awesome World Series matchup!

7:35 PM EST: On the mound for the Giants will be Tim Hudson and for the Royals it will be Jeremy Guthrie

7:30 PM EST: Morse had doubts he'd ever see the field in the playoffs. “There was a point that I didn’t know if I'd be able to get back in time, especially with the training staff,” Morse said. “It was always, 'When we get to the NLCS.’ At the time we were about to play the wild-card game and I was thinking to myself, 'We might never get there.’”

7:25 PM EST: Bochy also talked about Morse's home run against the Cardinals and his status for nursing his strained oblique. “We saw what he could do, before the injury, in the first half, when you needed an extra-base hit or a home run,” Bochy said. “That’s a nice weapon to have off the bench.”

7:20 PM EST: The Royals were known to steal the bases throughout the year and in the postseason, but have yet to steal through 2 games of the World Series.

7:15 PM EST: Third base coach Tim Flannery also said he may play more conservative when Posey is rounding 3rd base. It might be a good idea. Posey has been thrown out 3 times this postseason going into home. “I’m probably going to have to hold him,” Flannery said. At the same time, he said, “If people want me to hold everybody, we have to keep hitting. It works both ways. They held a guy at third with nobody out and he didn’t score.”

7:10 PM EST: "The tighter the races are, the more games you play, the more stories you guys have, the more drama," Hunter Pence said. "Drama is good in this game."

7:05 PM EST: Game 3 winners go on to win the series 66% of the time, according to USA Today. This game is crucial to each team. If the giants go up 2-1, they'll get 2 more home games to close it out. If the Royals go up 2-1, they'll be guarenteed a home playoff game if necessary.

7:00 PM EST: We're on to Game 3 now as the series is tied 1-1 and changes the whole series up. The Giants now have home-field advantage with 3 home games in a row, and then the last two games in Kansas City.

6:50 PM EST: "It was a great atmosphere here in Kansas City. They were rowdy and that's what you live for as a baseball player and it's going to be the same at AT&T," Pence said. "We have some tremendous fans that have a lot of fun. We have a beautiful ballpark. I think it's going to be a great experience for everyone."

6:40 PM EST: "Those are the matchups we were trying to get. It just didn't work out," Bochy said. "It's a tough inning for us. We had a hard time getting an out there."

6:30 PM EST: According to USA Today, in their first 10 postseason games, Giants relievers allowed just seven earned runs in 37 1/3 innings – for a playoff-best 1.69 ERA. Opposing hitters managed just a .164 average against them. Jean Machi and Hunter Strickland just couldn't get it done.

6:25 PM EST: "It's a battle. It's a joy to be a part of a series like this," said outfielder Hunter Pence. "It's a lot of fun to see both teams stepping up and having big at-bats."

6:20 PM EST: No one should be worried for the Giants bullpen or team yet. Just a game before last the Giants pitching looked unbeatable. That's the beauty of a series. We get to see how teams adjust and how they fail to adjust.

6:15 PM EST: "We know it's going to be a tough series," manager Bruce Bochy said. "That's the way it's going to be there. With their pitching and our pitching, the way both teams play, we are going to have a fight every game."

6:10 PM EST: The Giants had only given up more than 2 runs in an inning once this postseason. It's a rare occasion, especially in the postseason. The Royals and Giants have put together two games now adjusting to each team's pitching, bullpen, and hitting.

6:05 PM EST: The Giants came into the World Series with clutch hitting and clutch pitching. The hitting has been consistent and they rolled through game 1. In game 2 however, the pitching had its issues. Strickland gave up 5 runs in the 6th inning, turning the Giants bullpen from stars into a liability. Now, it was just one game so we can't get ahead of ourselves, but the pitching in the long-stretch of innings is now a worry.

6:00 PM EST: The San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals face off in a game 3 matchup that starts a now best of 5 series. The series tied at 1-1, both wins for each times were deciding wins. The Giants took control of game 1 putting 7 runs on the board and only giving up 1 run. Madison Bumgarner was on the mound for San Francisco and when he allowed a run, it was the first run he had allowed in 3 World Series games. Game 2 featued the Royals in a huge win just the following day after the Giants' stomping in Game 1. The Royals put up 7 runs and capped by a 3-run home run by Infante.
