Long time Baltimore Orioles' right fielder Nick Markakis has found a new home. According to Yahoo Sports's Jeff Passan, the 31-year old right fielder has signed a four-year deal worth $44 million with the Atlanta Braves. (Dan Connolly confirmed)

The Young Harris, Georgia native grew up just minutes aside Atlanta and particularly Cobb County, Georgia where the Braves are building their new stadium, SunTrust Park

A nine-year veteran, Markakis had spent his entire career with the Orioles until Wednesday when he struck the deal with the Braves. A career .290/.358/.435 hitter with 141 homeruns and 658 RBIs, Markakis's last two seasons have been below average for his career hitting just .271 and .276 during the two seasons. An established hitter, Markakis is better known for his fielding, where he has won two Gold Gloves including one for this past season when he had a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000%, not committing an error in 306 chances.

The signing for the Braves could be the signs of future moves, as outfielder Justin Upton has been in a considerable amount of trade talks in the past few weeks especially with the Seattle Mariners. Markakis will take over the hole that was left open by the trade that sent former Brave Jason Heyward to the St.Louis Cardinals last month. The Braves appear to be in between a re-building mode as well as a re-tooling mode with their recent moves that included acquiring RHP Shelby Miller from the Cardinals in the Jason Heyward trade.
