The 2014 Texas Rangers resembled a M.A.S.H. unit much more than a baseball team. Having lost stars like Prince Fielder, Shin-Soo Choo, Derek Holland, and Yu Darvish, the team finished worst in the American League with 95 losses. So far, 2015 is not starting much better as David Brown of CBS Eye on Baseball reports that prized middle infield prospect Jurickson Profar needs shoulder surgery and will likely be out for 2015. He was also out for all of 2014 with a shoulder injury.

Profar burst into the Major Leagues in 2013 as a 20-year-old and ended up being a significant contributor to the Rangers' Wild Card berth. The Curacao native showed flashes of power, speed, and defense. As a result of his skills and upside, the Rangers traded their veteran second baseman Ian Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers for Fielder as what appeared to be an upgrade.

Now, neither Profar nor Fielder have played many games on the right side of the infield, and the Rangers were forced to go back to the farm in the promotion of (also) 20-year-old Rougned Odor to play second base for 114 games. It looks like Odor is back in for 2015 while Profar spends another season on the sideline thinking what could have been.
