The Detroit Tigers lost to the Houston Astros 14-9 because of an awful pitching performance by everyone except Joakim Soria

Shane Greene made his Tigers debut after being traded over from the New York Yankees in the offseason. He gave up a first pitch single that led to three runs on six hits. However, it was good to see him make it through the full two innings.

Soria came in relief and was the only pitcher not to give up a run, but he walked two and gave up one hit. Joba Chaimberlain pitched one inning and gave up two runs on three hits and a walk. Tom Gorzelanny gave up two runs on two hits and two walks over one inning. He was credited with the loss.

Josh Zeid, Drew  VerHagen, and Buck Farmer gave up a combined four runs on six hits and one walk over three total innings. It was an awful night for Detroit pitching.

Tyler Collins, who could be the fourth or fifth outfielder on the Tigers, had two doubles and three RBI. Ian Kinsler has continued to play outstanding baseball, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Jason Krizan hit a home run, which was his first of Spring Training. Jordan Lennerton had two hits as well.

The Tigers will play the Toronto Blue Jays (split squad) on Monday in Dunedin. That game will take place at 1:05 PM EST. The Tigers will send Anibal Sanchez to the mound, and the Blue Jays will counter with Marcus Stroman. Both teams are 3-3 this spring. The Astros will play at Toronto's other split squad at 1:07 p.m..
