The Detroit Tigers took down the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-4. The game was all Toronto, but the Tigers rallied back in the late innings to squeak out a victory.

Anibal Sanchez got the start for the Tigers. He struggled, giving up two runs on four hits. He gave up a solo shot to Jose Bautista in the third. Sanchez struck out two and walked one, while throwing 55 pitches.

Kyle Ryan pitched 1 2/3  innings of scoreless baseball, but he walked two and gave up a hit. Joe Nathan continued to impress and solidify himself as the closer after another scoreless inning. Nathan had his curve ball working for him.

Alex Avila hit a double the opposite way. That aspect of his game has been something that he has worked on since the start of the offseason. Avila finished the day 1 for 3 at the plate. Speedy center fielder Anthony Gose went 1 for 3 as well.

Wynton Bernard had another good game with a two-run single in the seventh inning. It ended up being the game winning hit. Daniel Fields added to the late-inning heroics with an RBI single. Bernard also stole his first base of Spring Training.

Yoenis Cespedes was back in action and recorded one hit, and Nick Castellanos did as well. Prospect catcher James McCann had two hits.

Jose Iglesias did not play on Monday, but he felt better and should be in action on Tuesday. Victor Martinez took batting practice with the team. Bruce Rondon, who is a power closer returning from Tommy John srgery, threw a live bullpen session.

The Tigers will face off against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday at 1:05 PM EST. They will send Alfredo Simon to the mound to face an unknown pitcher from the Phillies' roster. The game will take place in Clearwater, Florida. Detroit is 4-3 this spring, and Philadelphia is 3-3.
