MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports that Cleveland Indians' RHP Gavin Floyd will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a fractured right elbow, and he could miss the entire 2015 season. Floyd has recently been struggling with arm injuries. In May of 2013, Floyd underwent Tommy John surgery, missing the rest of the season and the beginning of the 2014 season. He played five games for the Atlanta Braves in 2014 after he recovered, only to be sidelined the remainder of the season with a stress fracture in his right elbow.

From 2008 to 2012, Floyd pitched at least 165 innings each season, starting at least 29 games and posting an ERA under his career-average of 4.40 in each of those seasons. In the past two seasons, however, Floyd has made just 14 combined starts consisting of 78 2/3 total innings with an ERA of 3.43.

This offseason, Floyd signed a one-year deal with the Indians hoping for a fresh new start to his 11-year career. However, he will likely have to postpone that until  next season.

Floyd was slated to be the #4 starter in Cleveland's rotation, but with his injury, Danny Salazar was bumped up from #5 with T.J. House likely to cap off the rotation. Zach McAllister most likely will join the bullpen, and Josh Tomlin will be the next injury replacement from Triple-A.
