The Detroit Tigers took on the Philadelphia Phillies at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Florida. After nine innings, both sides called it quits. The game ended in a 4-4 tie.

Anibal Sanchez got the start for Detroit and was sharp throughout the game. He went 6.1 innings and allowed four runs on five hits with one walk. He left a few breaking balls up, and those three pitches led to three home runs. Chase Utley hit two homers off Sanchez and Russ Cantzler hit one. The starting pitcher struck out 10 hitters, five of them looking.

Blaine Hardy came in to relieve Sanchez. He gave up a hit and a walk, but he also picked a runner off first to help get out of the small jam. Angel Nesbitt gave up two hits in the single inning he pitched, but he did not give up any runs. Jose Valdez would have been perfect if not for one walk. All three relievers combined did not give up a single run against the Phillies.

Miguel Cabrera singled up the middle, which gave Yoenis Cespedes a two-run shot after driving one over the fence. Cabrera went 1 for 4 and played six innings, his longest outing of the spring. Cespedes recorded two hits after hitting his home run and later singling in the eighth inning off Philadelphia closer Jonathan Papelbon

In the third inning, Rajai Davis was looking for his first homer of the spring. He drove the ball deep, but Ben Revere took an outstanding leap to rob Davis of a home run.

The Tigers (10-16) will take on the Atlanta Braves (12-14) on Monday at 1:05 PM EST. The game will be held in Lakeland, Florida. The Tigers will send Alfredo Simon (1-2, 7.02 ERA) to the mound to take on Mike Foltynewicz (0-2, 7.04) of Atlanta.
