It's Opening Day in Major League Baseball and it is always exciting to see the action get back onto the field in America's Pastime. The Chicago White Sox were excited to see just what kind of a game they could have as the regular season finally was here after a tumultuous off-season in which they tried to add many players, meanwhile, Kansas City was excited to get back on the field as they will certainly try to make a return trip to the World Series again this year.

If today was any type of an indicator, the Royals certainly seem poised to make a strong push back to the World Series again. They simply defeated the White Sox both on the mound and at the plate as the Kauffman Stadium faithful were happy to see baseball for the first time since late October.

Yordano Ventura (1-0, 1.50 ERA) took the win quite easily in this contest as he pitched six innings and was going along quite well until he gave up a solo Home Run to Jose Abreu to start the seventh inning. But at that point, the Royals had already taken a strong lead that they were not going to give up, because their strength is their bullpen, and that is also the weakness of the White Sox.

The Royals began their scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Salvador Perez doubled to deep right to score Kendrys Morales. Lorenzo Cain would add an RBI and a run in the third inning as well as he singled home Alcides Escobar and then came home on a wild pitch by Jeff Samardzija (0-1, 7.50 ERA). Samardzija certainly took the loss in this contest and gave up a solo Home Run as well in the bottom of the fifth when Mike Moustakas rounded the bases on a shot to left centerfield.

The Royals had a 4-1 advantage going into the bottom of the 7th and would simply add to it as they rocked the White Sox bullpen for 5 additional runs (plus Samardzija was responsible for another one). Alex Gordon gets credit for a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 7th. Then a few batters later Alex Rios hit a 3 run Home Run for his first home run of the season. Not to be left out of the action, Eric Hosmer added a RBI single in the bottom of the eighth as well.

Ryan Madson would close out the game for the Royals as he took the mound to start the top of the ninth. He did allow a walk and a hit, but no runs came across as they would maintain their 10-1 lead as the game ended.

Wedneday, the teams are supposed to play at 8:10 ET at Kauffman Stadium again. Danny Duffy will try to get the series win for the Kansas City Royals (1-0), meanwhile the Chicago White Sox (0-1) will be looking for revenge as they send Jose Quintana to the mound.
