Joe Nathan has already landed on the Detroit Tigers disabled list with a strained flexor in his elbow.

The 40-year old, fifteen-year veteran reliever made an Opening Day appearence, securing a one out save. In 2014, Nathan had a long season appearing in 62 games and working his way to a 5-4 record with a 4.81 eRA. He was able to save 35 games last season in 42 chances.

Over his fifteen-year career, Nathan has amassed a 62-34 record to go along with 377 career saves and 2.89 ERA in 917 innings pitched.

With Nathan on the disabled list the Tigers will turn to Joakim Soria to become the team's closer.

Soria, 30, is a seven-year major league veteran who has spent time with the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers before coming over to Detroit last season a week before the trade deadline.

In his career, Soria has appeared in 372 games in wich 200 of those were save opporutunites. Out of those 200 save opportunities, Soria has blown 28, which has contributed to his career record of 16-19. However, the 30-year old veteran reliever has a solid career ERA of 2.58 in 383.1 career innings pitched.

The Tigers will look to sweep the Minnesota Twins tomorrow afternoon at 1:08 PM after shutting out the Twins in the first two games of the series, outscoring the dismal Twins 15-0 over the two games. Right-hander Shane Greene will take the mound for the Tigers tomorrow going up against former top Twins pitching prospect Kyle Gibson.
