Jeff Francoeur's three-run home run stood up as the Philadelphia Phillies topped the Boston Red Sox 4-2 in front of their home crowd at Citizens Bank Park.

Francoeur took Red Sox starter Rick Porcello between the 384- and 387-foot markers in left-center field with two on and one out in the bottom of the sixth. Darin Ruf (walk) and Cody Asche (single) scored on Francoeur's blast (1) to give the Phillies a 3-0 lead.

Chase Utley added an insurance run an inning later with a sacrifice fly that scored Ben Revere, who both reached and advanced to third on Pablo Sandoval's throwing error.

Boston scored twice in the top of the eighth via Xander Bogaerts's RBI single and Sandoval's bases-loaded walk. Jonathan Papelbon then came in to get Hanley Ramirez to fly out and end the threat.

Aaron Harang (W: 1-0, 0.00 ERA) dominated the Red Sox with 6 1/3 innings of two-hit, no-run ball. He walked only one and struck out eight. Papelbon (S: 1, 0.00) finished the eighth and pitched a perfect ninth for the save, fanning Bogaerts to end the game.

Porcello (L: 0-1, 4.50 ) served up Francoeur's blast to suffer the loss. He allowed only those three runs in his six innings of work while walking two and striking out four. Robbie Ross allowed Utley's sac fly for the Phillies' final tally.

The two teams finish out the series Thursday evening at 7:05 p.m. EDT. Justin Masterson (Boston) and David Buchanan (Philadelphia) will both make their season debuts on the mound.
