There are certain things that are bigger than sports. Human Health and Safety are always important when it comes to sports and the pitcher is always at danger when they are as close to the plate as they are.

Carlos Carrasco started the game for the Cleveland Indians but was pulled before any runs would cross the plate. Adam Eaton had an infield single, and then Melky Cabrera had an infield single as well. Cabrera's single hit Carrasco in the wrist and then hit him in the face and he fell face first down onto the pitcher's mound. Zach McAllister came in to pitch after him and threw a wild pitch that got the runners to second and third. Adam LaRoche grounded out and brought Eaton home, then Avisail Garcia singled to bring Cabrera home to give the White Sox an early 2-0 lead. Because Jose Abreu struck out earlier in the inning it was the third out when Garcia was thrown out trying to steal second. Sadly for Carrasco (1-1, 2.84 ERA) he did get the loss in this contest.

Carrasco is currently being treated for a jaw contusion and shows no symptoms of a concussion, which means that he has avoided what could be a major injury but a small stint on the DL could be very possible.

McAllister would give up a run of his own in the top of the fourth inning. Avisail Garcia was able to get on base on a fielder's choice when the defense decided to throw out Adam LaRoche at third to get his first out of the inning. Garcia would then advance to second off an Alexei Ramirez walk. Tyler Flowers would get the credit for the 2 out RBI when Garcia would score from second base on an infield single. White Sox went to the bottom of the inning with a 3 run advantage.

The Cleveland Indians would then have their best half inning of the game. Jerry Sands had a single to get on base and advanced to second on a passed ball when Tyler Flowers made a mistake behind the plate. Ryan Raburn would knock a double to score Sands as the Indians would get their only run of the game. Jose Quintana (1-0, 4.09) was excellent pitching through six innings giving up only 3 hits and 1 walk. Interestingly enough, the White Sox bullpen was fantastic as well, when Dan Jennings, Zach Duke, and David Robertson (2nd save) would only give up 1 walk across the final three innings of the game and no hits at all. Also, they were able to strike out 8 with Jennings being the only man who didn't get all 3 batters to strike out. Robertson does get the award for effectiveness as he got 12 pitches for 9 strikes to get out of the inning.

One final thing had to happen because the White Sox still had one more run to score. Jose Abreu got his second Home Run of the season in the top of the fifth from Nick Hagadone. The score stayed at 4-1 until the game was completed.

The Chicago White Sox (3-4) will battle the Cleveland Indians (2-5) again tomorrow when John Danks (0-1, 6.25 ERA) will try to lead the White Sox to their fourth straight win while Trevor Bauer (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will be looking to break that up in this short two game series between the Division Rivals.
