The New York Mets tied a club record by winning their 11th consecutive game with a 6-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves Thursday afternoon. In so doing, they also completed a 10-game home stand, which saw the Mets sweep the Philadelphia Phillies, Miami Marlins, and Braves. The streak started with a win in their final game in Atlanta on April 12.

On Thursday, Mets starter Bartolo Colon (W: 4-0, 2.77 ERA) did it with his arm and his legs. He pitched a quality start, allowing three earned runs in six innings. He walked none and struck out five.

Colon posted an unusual pitcher-unassisted (1U) scoring on a pickoff in which he made no throw. Colon caught Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski attempting to steal in the top of the sixth. The big 41-year-old right-hander ran down Pierzynski and tagged him out without a throw (video).

Colon got four runs of support while he was in the game thanks mainly to Daniel Murphy's three-run double in the bottom of the first. Curtis Granderson, Lucas Duda, and Michael Cuddyer all walked ahead of Murphy's double and scored on the hit (video).

The Mets scored again on Eric Campbell's bases-loaded walk that brought in Granderson.

Atlanta closed the gap to 4-3 with a run in the second and two in the fourth. In the second, Pierzynski scored on Andrelton Simmons's double off the wall on a bang-bang play at the plate. The original call was out, but the Braves won the challenge after a nearly six-minute review (video).

In the fourth, Simmons (single) and Jace Peterson (sacrifice fly) pulled the Braves to within one.

New York added insurance in the seventh by winning a challenge of their own that resulted in an RBI force out from Cuddyer. Murphy added an RBI single to complete the scoring.

Julio Teheran (L: 2-1, 4.64) started for Atlanta. He walked the bases loaded ahead of Murphy's double in the first to suffer the loss. He allowed four earned runs in 4 1/3 innings while walking five total and striking out five.

Jeurys Familia (S: 8) pitched the ninth for the save, walking one and fanning two, including Peterson to end it.

On Friday, the Mets take the train to Yankee Stadium for a three-game Interleague series with the New York Yankees, which includes the Sunday night Game of the Week. Atlanta visits the Phillies.
