Kendrys Morales's three-run home run (3) capped a sixth-run seventh inning that saw the Kansas City Royals (13-6) surge past the Cleveland Indians (6-12) to win Tuesday night's match up 11-5. Morales homered over the center-field wall to give his team a four-run lead that the Royals later expanded and never reliquished.

The big inning started with Salvador Perez (single) and Omar Infante (double) hitting their way on. One out later, Alcides Escobar doubled them both home.

On the next play, with the game tied at 5-5, Mike Moustakas reached on an infield single on a high chopper off the plate. Escobar rounded third and scored when Indians catcher Brett Hayes could not handle the throw home. The Indians challenged the safe call at first, but the replay review confirmed the call. After an intentional walk to Lorenzo Cain, Morales launched his home run (video).

The Roylas pounded out 18 hits on the night.

The rally followed Brandon Moss's three-run sixth-inning home run (4) that temporarily put the Indians ahead 5-3.

From innings 1 through 6, the teams traded leads. Kansas City scored in the top of the second on Alex Gordon's moon shot (3) that cleared the first tier of bleachers.

Gordon had two RBI on the night.

The Royals scored single runs in the fourth and sixth to take a 3-2 lead. They tacked on two more in the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Cleveland came back with two in the bottom of the second on Michael Bourne's two-run single that scored Moss and Lonnie Chisenhall. They went ahead on Moss's home run.

Brandon Finnegan (W: 9.00 ERA) benefited from the big inning to pick up the win in relief. He allowed one earned run, Moss's run on the three-run shot. He also walked one hitter. Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie pitched 5+ innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits. He walked three and fanned three.

Scott Atchison (L: 0-1, 5.63) took the loss in pitching 1/3 of an inning. He allowed three earned runs, including the go-ahead run, to reach. Indians starter Trevor Bauer pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out two. He also served up Gordon's home run.

The two teams will complete the three-game series Wednesday night, starting at 6:10 p.m. EDT. Yordano Ventura (2-1, 4.09) will take on Danny Salazar (2-0, 2.08). With a win, Kansas City would sweep the series.
