DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies completed the four-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves with an 11-3 blowout victory in the last series before the All-Star Break.

Colorado Rockies hitters blasted their way through the Braves pitching staff on Sunday with ease. Producing 11 runs in the series finale, the Rockies were finally able to convert going 6-for-16 with runners in scoring position (RISP) and leaving only seven runners on base.

Led by center fielder Charlie Blackmon and All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, the Rockies were able to gain the lead and never looked back. Blackmon helped get the scoring started with a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning to extend the Colorado lead to 3-0. Blackmon finished the afternoon an astounding 3-for-5 with four RBI’s. Tulowitzki, who saw his 21-game hitting streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, blew the game wide open in the bottom of the sixth. Tulowitzki’s three-run big fly to deep left center field gave the Rockies an 8-3 lead and put the game out of reach. He would finish 1-for-4 with three RBI’s and a strike out.

Rockies starter Chad Bettis (5-4, 4.91 ERA) received all the help he could ask for and held Braves hitters in check all afternoon en route to his fifth win of the year. Bettis labored in the top of the sixth inning surrendering all three of the Braves runs in the inning. He would finish after six innings allowing six hits and recording eight strike outs.

Atlanta Braves starter Alex Wood (6-6, 3.76 ERA) received the start Sunday after being pulled after two pitches Thursday due to the two hour rain delay. Wood was not able to keep hitters off-balance and was touched up for 10 hits in his 5.2 innings of work. He surrendered seven of the 11 runs and recorded six punch outs.

Braves hitters were unable to convert opportunities in big moments. They would leave 11 runners stranded on base and went 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Striking out 10 times did not help the Braves cause as they attempted to avoid the sweep.

Center fielder Eury Perez was a bright spot in the two hole in the lineup with a 3-for-5 afternoon as he replaced Cameron Maybin in the lineup who was out with an illness. Kelly Johnson, A.J Pierzynski, and Jonny Gomes each drove in a run in the top of the sixth inning, but it would not be enough to put pressure on the Rockies bullpen.

The Colorado Rockies head into the All-Star break with a 39-49 record and 11 games back of the NL West leading Los Angeles Dodgers. Colorado also sits 8.5 games back of the second Wild Card spot in the National League. Nolan Arenado, DJ LeMahieu, and Troy Tulowitzki will represent the Rockies in the Midsummer Classic in Cincinnati.

The Atlanta Braves head into the All-Star break with a 42-47 record and trail the NL East leading Washington Nationals by seven games after losing five straight games. Atlanta is six games back of the final Wild Card spot in the National League. Shelby Miller is the lonely Atlanta Brave who will represent the franchise in Cincinnati at the Midsummer Classic on Tuesday.
