The Baltimore Orioles struck gold early in the game and continued with hot pitching to win 6-2 over the Detroit Tigers

Gerardo Parra doubled in his first at-bat as an Oriole to put runners on second and third for Chris Davis, who racked up an RBI with a groundout. Matt Wieters followed that up with a single to score Parra.

Parra was acquired in a trade on Friday from the Milwaukee Brewers. The outfielder is hitting .328/.369/.517 with nine home runs and 31 RBI over 100 games this season. It is easily the most productive season he has had in his entire seven-year career. He received an outstanding applause as he stepped to the plate for the first time with Baltimore.

The Orioles offense gave starting pitcher Kevin Gausman an early two run lead, which he rode for his entire outing. The young pitcher went seven innings and gave up just two earned runs on four hits. The righty struck out six and tossed 106 pitches. Gausman took the victory and is now 2-2 with a 3.97 ERA on the season.

The Orioles got runs in the second and fourth inning, thanks to Caleb Joseph. The number nine hitter singled in the second, which scored Jimmy Paredes to make it 3-0 in favor of Baltimore. In the fourth, Joseph launched a 404 foot two-run home run to give the Orioles the big lead they were looking for all game.

The Tigers sent right-hander Anibal Sanchez to toe the slab on Saturday. He made it 6.2 innings, but gave up six runs on nine hits, two of them going over the fence. He took the loss and is now 10-9 with a 4.77 ERA. Sanchez has shown flashes of dominance, but has also struggled in 2015.

The hit that chased Sanchez from the game was a home run to center field from Manny Machado that traveled 420 feet.

Blaine Hardy and Ian Krol threw a combined 1.1 scoreless innings of baseball. Hardy walked one and Krol gave up a hit. They both recorded a strikeout.

The Tigers only runs came off of a Nick Castellanos home run to right field that scored catcher James McCann

As a side note, right fielder J.D. Martinez left the game in the bottom of the third inning because of a left knee contusion. The injury was not that serious and he is considered day-to-day. The X-rays came back negative.

Sanchez has given up 24 homers this season, after giving up just four in 2014. Phil Hughes of the Minnesota Twins has allowed 25 home runs. He is the only player that has given up more than Sanchez.
