The Chicago White Sox have acquired infielder Todd Frazier from the Cincinnati Reds as part of a three-team deal, as according to a report from Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com on Wednesday afternoon.

With the Los Angeles Dodgers being the third team involved in the deal, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that top pitching prospect Frankie Montas has been traded to Los Angeles.

At this point in time, all players are being informed and neither club has confirmed the deal.

As noted by Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals were among the teams making a push to acquire Frazier from the Reds.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Jose Peraza, Brandon Dixon and Scott Schebler are headed to Cincinnati in the deal.

Alongside Montas headed to Los Angeles are Micah Johnson and Trayce Thompson, as Jon Heyman adds.

As the White Sox look to re-build upon their infield, Nightengale reports that the club had been working on four or five different deals before landing Frazier, the one they wanted all along.

Starting with an outlook of Montas, he joins a club with a great future pitching staff filled with guys like LHP Jose Urias. He will more than likely be coming up shortly, possibly by opening day 2016, if he breaks spring training with the Dodgers where he can show off the huge talents in which he carries.

Now looking at Peraza, Jim Bowden of ESPN says that executives and scouts from both the Atlanta Braves and Dodgers have said they view him as a utility player at best. Looking at the deal as a whole, he is considered a low return for Cincinnati. Peraza is versatile which only makes the acquisition that much better as he is sure to get some playing time under his belt in the near future.

As Ken Rosenthal notes, Scott Schebler didn’t fit the Dodgers well as a left-handed hitting corner outfielder. Dixon on the other hand is a lesser 2B/OF prospect.

Ken also mentions that Peraza was supposed to be headed to the Reds a few weeks back when LHP Aroldis Chapman was rumoured to be traded to Los Angeles. The deal fell apart due to a case of domestic violence in which Chapman was involved in earlier in the offseason.

According to Bob Nightengale, the Reds didn't like the White Sox prospects enough to get Frazier deal done alone, so the Dodgers became involved.

Bruce Levine of 670thescore.com reports that Frazier will make $7.5 million in 2016. He is then eligible for arbitration in 2017 and free agent eligible following that.

This deal comes at as a huge one for the city of Chicago. They have already brought along a new acquisition in third baseman Brett Lawrie, who was acquired from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for LHP Zack Erwin and RHP J.B. Wendelken, back on December 9th. Lawrie will move to second base with Frazier set to take over the everyday duties at the corner position in 2016.

According to a report from Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, The Dodgers looked into acquiring Frazier from the Reds however; they did not want to move Justin Turner to 2B since he is coming off of October knee surgery.

The White Sox could very well become contenders in the AL Central this coming season. If they are able to continue the way in which they have gone about their team thus far into the offseason, as with a few quick fixes on the pitching side of things, the club could very well be the one to beat as they look to push their way back into October ball.

In a statement from White Sox GM Rick Hahn regarding Todd Frazier, he said, "He is a high-character, smart baseball player who will provide an impact bat in the middle of our order.''
