According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Chicago White Sox want to sign Alex Gordon or Yoenis Cespedes, "but only if they are willing to take a three-year deal or less." That is much shorter of a commitment than the outfielders are looking to get in free agency.

It will be difficult to predict a landing spot for Cespedes because of the fact that Gordon and Justin Upton are still available, along with Chris Davis, who has a power bat and can play first base or right field. The trade talk for Gordon was really catching fire before Christmas, but things started to slow down. It is obvious that Gordon is taking in interest from multiple Major League Baseball teams. Believe it or not, the Kansas City Royals still have a chance at Gordon, according to Ken Hambleton of the Lincoln Journal Star

At this point, the Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and White Sox are all teams that are definite fits for either corner outfielder. They all fit the profile for a player like Upton as well.

Gordon, the second pick in the 2015 MLB Draft by the Royals, slashed .271/.377/.432 and picked up 96 hits, 18 doubles, 13 home runs and 48 RBI across 104 games in his All-Star campaign with Kansas City in 2015. It marked the third straight year Gordon made the All-Star team for the American League.

As for Cespedes, the native of Cuba, played for the New York Mets and Tigers in 2015. During his time, Cespedes slashed .291/.328/.542 with 35 home runs and 105 RBI, but was left off the All-Star team for the American League. Cespedes hit two home runs and picked up eight RBI for the Mets in the 2015 Postseason.

The White Sox have added Todd Frazier and Brett Lawrie through trade this season, but just need some extra help offensively in an outfielder. If Chicago were to add an someone beyond the infield, the specific player would join Melky Cabrera, Adam Eaton, Avisail Garcia and J.B. Shuck as outfield options.

To get a deal done for Gordon or Cespedes, Chicago may need to expand out of their comfort zone.
