Dodgers avoid the Wild Card

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a solid offensive hitting team as they have a .752 OPS, which is very good in baseball.

They don't seem to have a problem scoring runs, averaging 5.04 runs per night. However, their offense seemed to cool down as in the last 30 days (27 games) they are scoring 4.37 runs per game.

First baseman Max Muncy has been hitting the best of the team, as he has a .925 OPS with 30 homers and 78 RBIs while stealing a pair of bases without being caught.

If the Dodgers can hit even better, they must win the division crown and avoid the wild card game.

7:04 PM16 days ago

The offensive power of the Giants

The San Francisco Giants have been one of the best offensive batting teams as their .753 OPS is just above the Dodgers for sixth overall.
The Giants have a lot of power this season, trailing only the Toronto Blue Jays with their 201 team home runs. However, this team has cooled off in their last seven games as they have scored a total of 14 runs in that span.

Shortstop Brandon Crawford has hit very well this season, as he has 19 home runs and 75 RBIs, while he steals 10 bases on 12 attempts.

If San Francisco can keep hitting as well as they have, they can keep the Dodgers at bay tonight.

This is how the San Francisco Giants arrive

The San Francisco Giants are clinging to their divisional lead in the NL West, going 86-49 this season.

They have not announced who will be on the mound today, but according to some media, left-hander José Quintana is expected to pitch. He went no-decision against the Milwaukee Breewers last time out, as he had 3.1 scoreless innings and allowed one hit, one walk and six strikeouts.

Let's enjoy the game tonight

The San Francisco Giants lead the majors in home runs and the Los Angeles Dodgers are fourth.
I'll point out it's  very fortunate that it's the Sunday Night game.
This is going to be a really fun series. It's one of the best rivalries in baseball with first place on the line in September between teams coming in with the best record in baseball.

Get excited!

The pitching matchups

The Giants avoid Max Scherzer and the still-injured Clayton Kershaw, but they'll have to deal with Cy Young frontrunner Walker Buehler (13-2, 2.05 ERA). Buehler hasn't allowed more than two runs or worked fewer than six innings since July 5. In his last 20 starts, he has a 1.57 ERA. He's remarkably already faced the Giants five times this year, pitching to a 0.79 ERA and 0.82 WHIP. Somehow, the Giants won two of those games, though, so he isn't untouchable.
Buehler gets the ball Sunday. We don't know the Giants' starter for Sunday.
With Alex Wood and Johnny Cueto on the injured list, DeSclafani is the only healthy starter left in their rotation. Manager Gabe Kapler has said they are prepared to go with bullpen games in the absence of Cueto and Wood. The Giants do have a strong and deep bullpen and two options that could get them length would be lefty Jose Quintana and fellow lefty Sammy Long.

It will be the third game in the series

This Sunday, September 5th, the series of 3 games between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers will end at Oracle Park, at 7:08 p.m. ET.
So far this season they have added 18 games and each team has accumulated 9 victories. There is no doubt that the rivalry has been very close.
By the third game, the Dodgers will try to win to maintain the top spot in the division when they take the field with Walker Buehler. A day before the game started, San Francisco had not announced its starting pitcher.
In their last meeting, the score was 6-1, in favor of the Dodgers.

Battle for first place in the NL West

The best baseball action this coming Sunday is in the Bay. The Los Angeles Dodgers are visiting the San Francisco Giants. This is also one of the best long-standing rivalries in the majors. It goes all the way back to their New York days and both teams moved to the west coast in the same year.

That's in the past, though, and the present is plenty juicy. The two teams have been among the best in baseball all season, at times the two best in baseball, and are fighting for first place in the NL West. In fact, they are tied with the best record in baseball at 85-49

In anticipation of this battle, let's run through some of the storylines coming in.

6:02 PM16 days ago

The match will be played at the Oracle Park

The San Francisco Giants vs Los Angeles Dodgers match will be played at the Oracle Park, in San Francisco, CA, with a capacity of 41,915 people.
Oracle Park is a baseball stadium previously known as Pacific Bell Park (a name that some still use) and SBC Park. It was renamed AT&T Park in 2006, following the merger of SBC Communications with AT&T.
In this stadium Barry Bonds made history in 2001 by hitting his 73rd home run, thus setting the record for the most home runs in a season, and on August 7, 2007 with 756 for life, to surpass Hank Aaron as the leader of all times in the majors. It was also the scene of the All-Star Game in 2007.
It is located in the South Beach neighborhood. It is considered one of the most beautiful stadiums in the league and is famous for the Coca Cola bottle and giant mitten located behind the left field seats, as well as the part of San Francisco Bay that is behind the field. right, a place known as McCovey Cove in honor of ex-baseball player Willie McCovey, where people gather to wait for the hits that go into the water, especially during the time when Barry Bonds played there. On the right-field fence of the stadium there is a small counter for home runs that have fallen into the water.
